The writing and language strand requires students to employ a wide range of strategies as they appropriately use the writing process components to communicate with different audiences for a variety of purposes.  Whether they are learning to orchestrate text or are varying their range of sentence structure to compose texts in various genres and modes, students develop an understanding that attention to structure and form is an essential part of the process of creating and revising text across the curriculum.

With the advancement of technology, students have additional means for expressing personal ideas and for relating information gained through research and inquiry.  Written and oral presentation of this information is the final step that fuses skills from all other English language arts strands.  Alabama Course of Study, English Language Arts, p. 1
