Suggestions for English Language Learners:

ESL Ideas      (B=Beginning, I=Intermediate, T=Transitional)
(B) Students copy publishing information onto a note card in the correct format. The teacher may provide a model for each kind of source: book, periodical, and encyclopedia.
(I, T) Students create a scavenger hunt to locate library information. This should be done with paired students.  Students use the Grammar Network or the MLA Standards (the publishing guidelines for the Modern Language Association) for the correct format. Students should be able to note bibliographical information from all types of sources. Students exchange their scavenger quest with another pair of students.
(T) Write a brief survey, conduct the survey, and then write recommendations based on the survey results.
(T) With a peer partner, students participate in the same research project as the rest of the class but with a different quantity of work required.
