Lesson Plans

Chicago Public Schools
This is a structured lesson plan that provides strategies for teaching, examples, worksheets, and assessments. Instruction on the TI-82/83 is provided, but the use of calculators is not essential. (Day 70-71)

Graphing Radical Functions
This lesson shows the original parent function and translations and also discusses limitations on domain and range.

The Big Function Graph Puzzle
This is great!!!!  This gives 6 graphs and 6 functions to match at a time - linear and quadratic.  This could be done online by your students or you can use it for examples.

Linear vs. Absolute Value
A short lesson showing the similarities and differences between linear functions and absolute value functions.

Slopes of Horizontal and Vertical Lines
This lesson begins with finding slope of a line given its graph and progresses to discuss horizontal and vertical lines in terms of their slopes.  Contains a few pictures.

Resources:

Manipulating Graphs
This site is an explanation of common relations with examples, animations, and java applets.

Graphs of Quadratic and Absolute Value Functions
This site is on symmetry but contains some pictures of graphs that you may be able to use for quadratics and absolute value.
