Algebraic Connections
Std 11: Critique the appropriateness of measurements in terms of precision, accuracy, and approximate error.

Example: determining whether one candidate has a significant lead over another candidate when given their current standings in a poll and the margin of error

Lesson Plans

Precision vs. Accuracy
Students learn the difference between precision and accuracy with a dart board.

The Geo Of Zeo
In this lesson, students take measurements of crystals and compare the accuracy of their results.

Peanut Water
In this lesson, students repeat an experiment performed by George Washington Carver using peanuts. Students must make accurate  measurements of mass and volume.

Precision, Accuracy, Error, and Uncertainty
This site contains descriptions for each of the terms and an activity for comparing each based on the measurements of the length of a rod.  Answers are provided on the site.
