Lesson Plans

Direct and Indirect Reasoning
This lesson helps students with deductive reasoning, including a little logic and Venn diagrams. Activity sheets with discussions are included.

The Locker Problem
This lesson plan encourages students to use manipulatives to examine the locker problem. Students can work together or individually and are encouraged to use spreadsheets. A student worksheet and additional "locker problem" web links are included.

No Sweat Sherlock
In this lesson, students use deductive reasoning in the context of Sherlock Holmes.

Deduction with Pythagoras
Students make deductions that lead to a proof of the Pythagorean theorem.
