Std 3:  Label equal parts of a whole using 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4.

Lesson Plans:

To Half or Half Not
Students will use a geoboard to demonstrate different ways to divide a rectangle in half and then identify equivalent fractions that represent one-half.

Gummy Fractions
Using gummy worms, the teacher will show students halves, thirds, and fourths. Along with this concrete manipulative, students will also draw/shade worms in fractional parts.

Fraction Fun
Students will use a pizza to demonstrate their knowledge of fractional parts.

Fractions with Oranges
This lesson provides an introductory activity for fractions. Oranges are used to show the difference between one whole, one half, and one quarter.

Fraction Action
This is a lesson plan for introducing halves, thirds, and fourths with a hands-on, technology-connected activity.

Gotta Have Fractions
This is a five day unit that focuses on exploring fractions in new and exciting ways.  The lessons involve anything from a gigantic Mr. Goodbar to a Fraction Burrito.
