Shopping
Students will experience hands on activities in a  realistic store setting before going out into the community to shop.

Let's Go Shopping!
Students will apply their knowledge of adding coins to a real life situation and create different coin combinations to buy their snack.

Counting Money <$1.00
Four lessons in a unit designed to allow students to identify, count, and write money amounts less than $1.00 two different ways (using the cent symbol or using the dollar sign and decimal point).

How Much for Your Name?
Students will create different coin combinations for a single amount.

Learning to Use Money
The students will learn the value of each coin and bill and be able to combine them in different ways. They will learn how to combine coins and bills to pay for purchases and also how to calculate change.  Uses a Java Applet to online activities.

What to Buy
During this lesson students get to experience shopping through a slide show. They have to choose an item and then place the correct amount of money beside the item they wish to purchase. Students also practice counting money via the Internet.

We All Scream For Ice Cream
Students will learn the value of coins and a one dollar bill and to count coin combinations. This activity will provide them with a real world experience in which to practice these skills.

Changes in Change
This lesson begins with students visiting a Web site that gives them practice in counting money. Then, a second site goes one step further, giving students the opportunity to make change for make-believe purchases.

Authentic Writing Experiences and Math Problem-Solving Using Shopping Lists
In this lesson, students use problem-solving skills to stay within their budgets as they choose items they plan to buy and create personal shopping lists. Students revise and edit their lists until they stay within budget guidelines. Once their lists work, students can go to the class store and buy their treats. This activity is a great way to integrate writing with math problem-solving. This lesson incorporates a "Welcome to Market" interactive activity.
