Std 6:  Solve problems using the associative property of addition.

Associative Connection
Students will be able to use the Associative Property to work addition problems.

Hopping on the Number Line
In this lesson, students generate sums using the "number line" model, investigate the order property of addition, and solve and create puzzles using the number line.

Exploring Adding with Sets
Reading The Hershey’s Kisses Addition Book will set the stage for this lesson in which students write story problems, find sums using sets, and present results in the form of a table. In the discussion of the table, the students focus on the order property and the effects of adding 0.

Property Feud
Students will demonstrate what the Commutative, Associative and Identity Properties are.

This site explains why addition and subtraction are taught together. It offers tips for teaching place-value, regrouping, as well as the commutative and associative properties of addition.

Number Sense and Numeration
Addition and Multiplication can Always be Mixed up.  For Subtraction and Division, Same order is Desired.
