Lesson Plans:

Coordinates on a Shower Curtain
In this lesson a shower curtain is made into a grid and students are given coordinates to position themselves on the grid.

Going Places:  Measuring and Mapping
The sequence of the seven lessons in this unit plan builds skills for measuring with non-standard units and describing, naming, interpreting, and representing relative positions in space. Students investigate various areas and objects they see each day to apply ideas of navigating in space and understanding the relationships among these various elements.

Ladybug Mazes
In this lesson, students will plan a series of moves that will navigate a ladybug through a maze. Their plans will turn the ladybug at the appropriate corners and keep it on a path without crossing the walls.

Coordinate Grids
Students will identify points on a coordinate grid and write about the grid.

Resources:

Using Grids
Students will understand how a grid helps to locate areas on a map.

What's the Point?
An online interactive resource where students will select correct points on a grid.
