Lesson Plans:
What
Time Is It?
Students
will use the book The Grouchy Ladybug and be able to determine the
appropriate time with their individual clocks.
Tick-Tock Goes the Clock
Students will tell time with both digital and
analog clocks.
Tick-Tock: Time Doesn't Stop
Students will learn to tell time and write the time digitally to the
nearest five minute interval.
The
Grouchy Ladybug Tells Time
Students will use the book, The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle
to tell time to the minute. They will also use manipulatives
and draw the clock hands to the appropriate times. Students
will use an Internet web site for review.
Tell Time
to the Hour and Minute
This lesson will teach students how to tell time by allowing them to
use manipulative clocks and navigating the Internet. The students
will even create their own clock to take home and demonstrate what
they learned to their parents.
It's
About Time
During this lesson students gain an understanding of an analog clock
and a digital clock. Students watch a movie that explains the
importance of time. Students make a clock, see how it works, and
complete activities that demonstrate understanding of the concepts
covered.
Take a
Walk Through My Day
Students practice how to tell time on an analog clock. They
pantomime activities that they do in a typical day and have the
class guess at what time the student does a particular activity,
noting whether the activity is taking place in the A.M. or P.M. Each
student then creates a book describing a typical day. Each page of
the book contains a sentence describing that part of the day, an
analog clock showing the time that activity is being done, and a
picture showing the student doing that activity.
