Multiply whole numbers with and without regrouping using single-digit multipliers.
  • Applying concepts of multiplication through the use of manipulatives, number stories, arrays, repeated addition, or problem situations
  • Applying basic multiplication facts through 9 X 9 by using manipulatives, solving problems, and writing number stories
  • Recognizing properties of multiplication

Lesson Plans:

The Squares of Numbers in Multiplication
Students will memorize the multiplication math facts for a number times itself 1-10 and construct a visual image for these math facts.

Multiplication Bingo
Students will reinforce multiplication facts using multiplication bingo.

Snake
Students will increase proficiency in basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.

Surf's Up
Students will explore different web sites and gather information to be displayed in the form of multiplication facts.

Hundred Blocks Board
Students will practice adding, subtracting, and multiplying without regrouping using a hundred blocks board.

One Hundred Hungry Ants
Students will use arrays to complete multiplication and division activities.

Literature Computations

The focus of this 10 lesson unit is to teach computation through the use of children's literature.

National Library of Virtual Manipulatives
Virtual manipulatives related to NCTM standards in the areas of Number & Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement,  and Data Analysis & Probability.  To access tools, click inside the grid on the cell that matches the grade level and standards area desired.
