Determine elapsed time to the day with calendars and to the hour with a clock.
  • Calculating elapsed time to the minute within the same hour
  • Applying vocabulary associated with time using a.m., p.m., noon, or midnight

Lesson Plans:

Time Terms
Students will look up time related terms in a dictionary and use those words appropriately in a sentence. They will also work with a partner to determine time equivalencies.

Matching Clocks
Students will learn to match five minute intervals. Online activity link.

Math in Everyday Life
Students will solve word problems involving time and money.

Telling Time (by the hour)
Students will tell time and make their own clocks.

Telling Time with the "Grouchy Ladybug"
Students will use a self-created ladybug clock to demonstrate times by the hour.

How Much Time Has Passed?
Students work hands-on with traditional clocks to discover elapsed time.

Just In Time
