Grade 4, Math
Std 5: Round whole numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, or thousand and decimals to the nearest tenth.

Lesson Plans:

Place Value Population
Students will use rounding and estimation with large numbers.

Raise It or Rest It
This lesson uses a rhyme to help students learn to round.

Fill 'er Up!
Students practice rounding numbers while competing to "fill up" a chart.

A Rounding Review
Students will love reviewing rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, and thousand with this fun lesson centered around a visit to the computer lab.

Round and Round We Go!
This lesson reinforces rounding to tens, hundreds, and thousands.  Students will also identify place value for a given digit in numbers through 999,999 and determine the effect that changing a given digit will have on the value of the number.

Rounding Numbers
Students will use hundreds charts to help them learn how to round numbers to the nearest 10.  They will then apply this skill and round numbers to the nearest 100 and 1,000.  Students will complete a rounding assessment and play a game on the internet that assesses their skill in rounding numbers.
