Std 8:
Recognize equivalent forms of commonly used fractions and decimals.
             Examples: 1/4 = .25; 1/4 of a dollar = $.25 (25 cents)

Fraction Conversion Lesson Plan
Students will learn how to convert between fractions, decimals, and percents using a computer applet and the concept of money.

Fraction/Decimal War
This lesson is meant to reinforce student understanding of decimals in comparison to fractions as well as mixed numbers.

Fraction Fun!
In this lesson, students will use regions, sets, number lines, and other concrete and pictorial models to represent fractions and mixed numbers and relate symbols to their models. They will also use models and pictures to compare fractions including equivalent fractions and mixed numbers and to explain the comparison.

Decimal Fish
Students will recognize and generate equivalent forms of commonly used fractions and decimals by playing a "Go Fish" type game.

Equivalent Fraction Munch with Pizza Pie
Students will use concrete pictorial models to represent fractions and mixed numbers and will relate symbols to the models. They will use models and pictures to compare fractions including equivalent fractions and mixed numbers and then explain the comparison.

You Can Write It Two Ways!
Students will do computer accessed activities that enable them to visualize fractions and decimals.  Students will also be able to understand how both fractions and decimals can be used to describe the same amount.

Percents
Students will recognize equivalent forms of commonly used fractions and decimals.  The lesson provides a variety of real-life activities for the students to experience using percents.  A kinesthetic activity is also included to reach all learning types.

Fraction Frenzy

The objective of this mathematics unit is to concretely develop basic concepts of fractions and decimals.  Writing, comparing, and constructing fractions, as well as decimals, are among the primary focal points in this 6 lesson unit.
