Lesson Plans:

Coordinate Graphing
Students will learn the basics of coordinate graphing and practice plotting points on the coordinate axis.

If You Hopped Like a Frog
Students will make and analyze a coordinate graph.

Cartesian Coordinate
This lesson not only teaches basic coordinate plane manipulation, but also transforms any classroom or outside area into a three dimensional coordinate plane.  This lesson uses computer applets with fund hands-on activities.

An Introduction to the Coordinate Plane
A Web unit that introduces the coordinate plane, for elementary and middle school students. With the help of Sam the Chameleon, learn to find points on a number line and graph points in the coordinate plane.

Plane History
What is the history of the coordinate plane?  Was it invented?  Who named it?  Sam the chameleon helps students investigate the history of the coordinate plane.

Resources:

Finding and Graphing Points for Linear Relationships
Students will locate points that fall in a straight line.

Mathematics of Maps: Problem #1
I Gotta Get Out Of This Place!

What's the Point?
Interactive practice with coordinates.

A Maths Dictionary for Kids by Jenny Eather
