Grade 5, Math
Std 15:
Use common fractions to represent the probability of events that are neither certain nor impossible.

Example: finding the probability of stopping on a vowel when using a spinner with three vowels and five consonants.

Lesson Plans:

My Little Sister Ate One Hare
The students will understand, use, and compute basic probability.

Card Probability
Students will be able to calculate simple probability.

Straight From the Heart
Students enjoy a holiday treat while working in the areas of graphing, ratios, percentages and a situation in which they are called upon to solve a problem.

M&M Graphing and Probability
Provides students with a hands-on and cooperative learning experience in the process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, to improve decision making skills through the use of probability.  This lesson can be as simple as making a pictograph (1st and 2nd grades), or as
involved as predicting and determining probability (3rd-5th grades).

Introduction to Probability
Students will understand the formula for finding the probability of an event and find the probabilities of simple events with equally likely and non-equally likely outcomes. The lesson uses interactive dice and spinners with random rolls.

Sticks and Stones
Students will collect and display data regarding the moves in a game of Sticks and Stone (a Native American game) and use probability to estimate the average number of turns to win a game.
