Describe the terrestrial biomes.

Lesson Plans:

Unique Plants of the Biomes
Students will identify adaptations of plants in specific biomes, and explain how certain adaptations help plants survive.

Biomes: Wild Arctic
Students will learn key terms, discuss Arctic plants and animals, devise at least three Arctic food chains, and help create a food web showing connections among Arctic life.

Terrestrial Biomes
The Terrestrial Biomes Unit allows the instructor to cover the general concepts of the terrestrial biomes in an easy fashion that involves the students in both hands-on and interactive activities.

The Rain Forest
Students will describe major characteristics of the rainforest, debate the issue of de-forestation, and identify geographical areas that have rain forests.

Savannas, Deserts, Tundras
The students will determine the biotic and abiotic components of the savanna, desert and tundra biomes.

Boxing the Biomes
Students will construct a model of a biome which will illustrate the various characteristics unique to that biome in order to demonstrate their knowledge of biomes.

Biome Travel Journal
Students will create a biome travel journal based both on a fictional journey and factual information pertaining to terrestrial biomes.

Using Venn Diagrams to Compare Two Ecosystems
Students identify and describe differences between two related ecosystems.

Habitat: An Overview
This resource covers the different ecosystems on our planet. Find out how these biomes differ, what characteristics make them unique, and where they are located. Includes a map of the different habitats found in Missouri and information about habitats in Utah. There are links to eThemes Resources on specific habitats and animal food chains.

World Wide Biome Project
The aim of this project is to facilitate studying and sharing of ecological data between students from various areas of the world.

Mission Biomes:
Students will learn to classify regions of the world into different biomes.
