Grade 5, Science
Std 8: Identify major body systems and their functions, including the circulatory system, respiratory system, excretory system, and reproductive system.

Lesson Plans:

Inside and Out of the Human Body
Students will complete a webquest on the body systems and their functions.

Make a Neuron
Students will use various ways to create neurons.

Respiratory System
This lesson was designed for grades 4-6 to show that the general functions of the respiratory system are to deliver oxygen to the tissues, the importance of cellular respiration, the processes of inhalation/exhalation, determine the volume of air exhaled and to eliminate carbon dioxide formed in the body.

Bones, Bones, and More Bones
Students will explore the make up of bones, functions of bone in the human body, and that hollow bones have more strength.

Muscular System
This unit of three lessons looks at the use of muscles and describes strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Skeletal System
This unit has seven skeletal system activities.

Circulatory System
Students will use the Internet to research the circulatory system.
