Resources:

Consumer Testing in the Classroom
Those whiners who constantly mewl "why do I need to learn this?" can be in charge of this lesson - let them brainstorm ways to use the scientific method in testing consumer products. The following are just samples; have your kids come up with other products to test, and devise ways to test them.

Are You Under Pressure?
This is primarily science (chemistry and meteorology) topic. Students select a series of lab investigations to accomplish, and then explain the results obtained. This can be supplemented with additional on-line and off-line activities which will help to assess student understanding.

Multicultural Community - My Home!
Students are engaged in a study of the multicultural character of the local community. Community resources, e.g., people, places, things, and events, are incorporated into the classroom/field-based investigation.

Fact or Theory
To help students learn to separate scientific fact from theory.

Brown Bag Science
This is a hands-on science investigation on electricity. Students learn through the discovery method how electricity works. The student's natural curiosity and sense of exploration will enable them to explore and learn on their own with little input from the teacher.
