Std 8:  Apply principles of money management to the preparation of a personal budget that addresses housing, transportation, food, clothing, medical expenses, and insurance as well as checking and savings accounts, loans, investments, credit, and comparison shopping.      

Lesson Plans:

Budget Making
This lesson introduces students to budgets, expenses and savings.  Students will also learn about government services and basic expenses; and create pie charts representing government spending priorities.

Check Balancing
In this short lesson students learn to record checks and deposits in a checkbook registry.

Credit Cards
In this lesson students will  compare and evaluate the terms and conditions of various credit cards, and understand the legal and financial responsibilities involved.

Saving and Investing
This lesson Introduces the advantages and disadvantages of common savings and investment vehicles, and show the short- and long-term effects of various savings and investment choices.

Banking Services
In this lesson students perform  tasks associated with maintaining checking and savings accounts.

Consumer Awareness
This lesson combines decision-making methods with comparative-shopping techniques.  After completing this lesson students will recognize common consumer scams.
