Std 9.2: Explaining how United States citizenship is acquired

Lesson Plans:

Immigration Registration
This link provides an activity to allow students to explore the recent changes in immigration registration and its effects on the Pakistani immigrant population, participate in a round table discussion about the policies and imagine conversations taking place between individuals involved in this issue.

In the Melting Pot: Students work in small groups in this lesson
The groups research and examine a different aspect of the immigration process or of illegal immigration, to better understand the immigration process in the United States.

The Naturalization Process
This activity will educate them about the process of obtaining a Green Card and about the naturalization process itself and will encourage them to think about whether they think these processes are fair.

Resources:

Naturalization
Requirements for naturalization and other immigration and citizenship issues.

Citizenship Skills
Take a practice test of basic citizenship skills! This test is very similar to what immigrants most take in order to become United States citizens.
