Std 3.1:
Illustrating how changes in the determinants of supply and demand affect the
                supply and demand for products in the market.

Lesson Plans:

Using a See’s Sucker (or other such lollipop/candy),
Students will be able to actively participate and to grasp the concepts of demand, demand schedule, demand curve, and the law of demand.

Explorations of Economic Demand and Supply. 
Comprehensive lesson including discussions of curves and nonprice determinants of demand and supply.

Demand Shifters.
Students will learn about demand and factors that cause demand for a good or service to change. Students will learn to recognize factors that influence their behavior as a consumer.

Baby-sitter Shortage. 
Students use economic principles of supply and demand to explain why a sitter shortage has occurred in Washington D.C.


Rationing by Money Prices. 
Students explore the role of prices in allocating resources in a market economy through the analysis of organ transplant recipients


Scarcity and Opportunity Costs.
Students learn that productive resources are limited. Therefore, people cannot have all the goods and services they want; as a result, they must choose some things and give up others.
