Std 5:
Identify key cases that helped shape the United States Supreme Court, including
             Marbury v. Madison, McCullough v.Maryland, and Cherokee Nation v. Georgia.

Lesson Plans:

Marbury v. Madison
Students study the landmark Supreme Court case that established the precedent of judicial review.


McCulloch v. Maryland
Students study the landmark Supreme Court case that upheld Congress' implied powers


Teaching With Historic Places Lesson Plans:  "The Great Chief Justice" at Home. 
Students will  identify and explain Marshall's core principles of constitutional government in his career as chief justice of the Supreme Court.


Indian Removal Act 1830
This lesson looks at the process whereby a policy of assimilation gave way to one of overt removal under President Jackson.
