American Presidents. (PBS) Teacher's Guide to The Presidents' Web site offers a range of activities and resources to help teachers integrate core themes, events, and ideas from the American presidency into the classroom.

The Iranian Hostage Crisis.
Lesson focuses on the events that unfolded during the Iranian hostage crisis, and the effect the crisis had on the presidency of Jimmy Carter and U.S. Iranian relations to the present.


Living Vietnam Memorials: Exploring First-Hand Accounts of the Vietnam War, Both Overseas and At Home.
Students examine the Vietnam War from first-hand accounts. Students examine New York Times journalist Malcolm W. Browne's account of the fall of Saigon, interview adults about their recollections and the impact of the Vietnam War, and create first-person narratives based on their interviews.

Internet based independent Virtual Tour of the World Wide Web to conduct research to analyze one of the high points of the Carter Presidency. The diplomatic efforts of the Carter administration brought about a peace accord between Egypt and Israel which is still working today

Counterculture Webquest.
You are an FBI agent in 1969. You have been ordered by the President of the United States to investigate subversive activity. The President is making an "Enemies List" that includes people that don't conform to society. You have but one clue, a sheet of lyrics to a newly created Simon and Garfunkel song, A Simple Desultory Philippic (or How I Was Robert McNamara’d Into Submission) . It is your job to find out why both the subversive people and prominent politicians should be remembered for the parts they play in the 1960's.

Watergate. Students discuss the primary events of the Watergate crisis; conduct an interview with a Watergate-era adult.
