Describe the impact of American writers, mass entertainment, and technological innovations
                 on the culture of the United States from the end of World War I through the 1920s

Consumer Culture 1920
This unit is an overview of the Roaring Twenties. It encompasses politics, religion, fashion, sports & leisure, trends, cultural arts, current events and literature. Its primary theme is that disillusionment leads to change.

Teaching With Documents Lesson Plan: The Volstead Act and Related Prohibition Documents

Roadside Attractions.
Students will explain the impact the automobile had on business as merchants and city leaders strove to gain financially from increased automobile traffic during the 1920s and 1930s

Jazz Talk
Students will analyze work songs, spirituals, blues, and gospel songs in order to develop an appreciation for the origins of jazz music.

1920's: Lesson module with links to primary sources.

The Automobile.
Introduce students to the technological innovations that contributed to mass production of the automobile; show how mass production allows large numbers of Americans to afford an automobile;  demonstrate the short- and long-term cultural effects of widespread automobile ownership on the United States.
