 Label human-made and natural resources in Alabama.

Lesson Plans:

Water, Water, Everywhere
Students will identify water and land as examples of natural resources investigate sources of water and identify some ways in which humans make use of water as an economic resource.

Natural Resources  Students will identify human-made and natural resources.

Conservation  Students will develop an awareness of the need for conservation and ways they can help to conserve natural resources.

Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources:  State natural resources specific information.

Eat Your State!:  Students will create edible resource maps.

Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Social Studies 2003:  Lesson summaries and lesson reviews about communities.

DeSoto Caverns: Article titled "Let's Go Spelunking".

Suggestions for English Language Learners: 
(E/B=Entering/Beginning, D=Developing, E=Expanding)

Students label illustrations.
(E/B) Students sort pictures under headings of ‘Man-made’ or ‘Natural’.

(D) Students cut magazine pictures out and sort by ‘Man made’ or ‘Natural’.
