Lesson Plans:

Our National Parks
Students will learn about the National Park System in the United States, identify human modifications to the physical environment, and describe the intended and unintended effects of those modifications.


EPA Air Quality
In this unit, students will implement analytic and creative thinking to resolve potential air quality problems in their schools.

Johnny Appleseed Day Research Activity  Students will learn about Johnny Appleseed (John Chapman) and other people who do not have a day named after them, but should due to their contribution to society.

Recycle City: A source for activities, graphics, facts, games.

Explorer's Club: Lots of interesting things about recycling, plants and animals, air pollution, and the environment.  (Good for Smartboard K-5)

Kids Domain - Earth Day: Good links for Earth Day information and activities.

Suggestions for English Language Learners: 
(E/B=Entering/Beginning, D=Developing, E=Expanding)

(E/B) Students draw, select, or label pictures of animals or plants (such as at the zoo or on a farm).
(E/B)
Students match pictures of animals or plants and their habitats or characteristics (i.e. "Birds live in nests.").
(D) Students describe features of animals or plants from visual prompts (i.e. "Dogs bark. Birds fly.").
(E)
Students describe favorite animals or plants and defend their choice.
(E/B, D, E)
Students start a recycling bin as per teacher directions.
