Identify the geographic links of land regions, river systems, and interstate highways between Alabama and other states.

Alabama Rivers  This is a teacher guide to accompany the Discovering Alabama video by the same name.  The video overviews Alabama's major rivers, highlights their significance in Alabama's history...The teacher guide has suggestions for before/during/after viewing, as well as extensions and community connections.  (Discovering Alabama videos can be seen on Alabama Public Television and are available for purchase.)

Alabama's Natural Diversity  This teacher's guide accompanies the Discovering Alabama video by the same name.  The video presents an overview of Alabama's natural qualities from the state's Appalachian highlands to its coastal wetlands...The guide has suggestions for before/during/after viewing, as well as extended activities.  (Discovering Alabama videos can be seen on Alabama Public Television and are available for purchase.)

Birth of a City
Through the reading of a selected piece of literature and the development of an imaginary city, students will learn about the functions of local government and the incorporation process.

State Jeopardy - How Much Do You Know About My State? This lesson is a distance learning collaborative project involving another school. Each school will do research on the other school's state and be able to answer questions about that state posed by the other school. Students learn not only about another state, but about their own in formulating questions to stump their opponents.

Trouble Dolls The students will be able to understand the sequence of the story line and display character knowledge.
The students will be able to identify animals characteristic to the Florida Key West/Everglades Region.  The students will be able to identify on a map of Florida: The Florida Keys, Key Largo, Florida Bay, and the Everglades.  The students will be able to identify land region as well as physical characteristic differences between northern Alabama and Key West, Florida.

Alabama on the Map  Shows interstate highways and other state highways to and through Alabama.

Alabama Interactive Map This one-stop travel tool allows visitors to search for a variety of outdoor landmarks, trails and adventure locations. Hunting areas, public fishing lakes, handicap hunting trails, birding locations and wildlife preserves are highlighted in the new map. You can easily navigate through the interactive map by using zoom and map scroll tools.
