Birth of a City
Through the reading of a selected piece of literature
and the development of an imaginary city, students will learn about the
functions of local government and the incorporation process.
State
Jeopardy - How Much Do You Know About My State? This lesson is a
distance learning collaborative project involving another school. Each
school will do research on the other school's state and be able to
answer questions about that state posed by the other school. Students
learn not only about another state, but about their own in formulating
questions to stump their opponents.
Trouble Dolls The students will be able to understand the sequence
of the story line and display character knowledge.
The students will be able to identify animals characteristic to the
Florida Key West/Everglades Region. The students will be able to
identify on a map of Florida: The Florida Keys, Key Largo, Florida Bay,
and the Everglades. The students will be able to identify land
region as well as physical characteristic differences between northern
Alabama and Key West, Florida.
