Std 4:
 Describe the relationship of the five geographic regions of Alabama to the movement of Alabama settlers during the early nineteenth century.
                

Lesson Plans:

Alabama Brochure  In this lesson students will learn about the state in which they live by using child-friendly Web sites to collect facts and pictures about Alabama.

A Look at Our Natural Environment  During this lesson students will have the opportunity to research, analyze, and collect data on how the natural environment influenced the Native Americans long ago, and how it still influences us today. Using information gathered from the Internet, each student group will create a multimedia presentation and share it with the class.

Beach Explorers
Students will explore a beach and record what they have learned.

Life in Tuscaloosa County (Pioneer Period, 1816-26)
Students will  identify differences between life in Tuscaloosa in the pioneer period (1816 -1826) with the present day.

Jamestown Changes
Students will study census data showing the names and occupations of early settlers of the English settlement at Jamestown, Virginia, to discern how life changed in the Jamestown settlement in the first few years after it was founded.
