Students will indicate phrases from "The Star-Spangled Banner" that
refer to the bombardment of
Fort
McHenry,
list ways in which the American flag is used, discuss the symbols
within the American flag, and identify some ways in which the flag has
been used as a symbol of the Unites States.
The Star-Spangled Banner
The students will interpret the figurative language of the first verse
of "The Star-Spangled Banner" to create an illustration, and rewrite
the first verse using their own words.
The War of 1812 In this unit, students will learn
about our country's history by studying the events leading up to and
during the War 1812.

this unit, students will become knowledgeable about America's
history as they actively study The War of 1812. The lessons
