In this lesson from Discovery, students will utilize reference skills to locate primary resources about our nation's thirty-fifth president.  Afterward, students will critique the policies of John F. Kennedy and his administration. 

Teaching With Documents Lesson Plan: Founding Documents of the Peace Corps
Among the many objectives in this lesson, two (2) include
demonstrating an understanding of the "New Frontier" and the "Great Society."  Also, students will evaluate, take, and defend positions on issues regarding major responsibilities of the national government for foreign and domestic policy.

The Kennedy and Johnson Years: Space Race
In this web quest from Glencoe On-line, students examine the political accomplishments of John F. Kennedy's New Frontier and Lyndon B. Johnson's Great Society.

The following four (4) lessons are from Education World's Millennium Series entitled Space: The Final Frontier. These lessons directly or indirectly explore the modern concept of frontier -- space and the outer reaches of the universe!
Lesson 1: Top Ten Reasons for going into Space
In this lesson, students read ten reasons for exploring space and attempt to prove or disprove their validity.

Lesson 2: Who Led the Way?
In this activity, students write biographies of important pioneers in the space program.

Lesson 3: So You Want To Be An Astronaut?
In this lesson, students explore resources on how to become an astronaut, write job descriptions for three categories of astronauts, and compose ads for astronaut positions.

Lesson 4: A Space Shuttle Scavenger
In this lesson, students explore print and online resources about the space shuttle program and complete a space shuttle scavenger hunt.
