Ancient Tablets, Ancient Graves: Assessing Women's Lives in Mesopotamia
Using excerpts from ancient cuneiform tablets Lynn Reese, Director of the Women in World History Project, asks students to evaluate the quality and the characteristics of women's lives in Ancient Mesopotamia. The information literacy skills taught in this lesson are interpreting and evaluating primary source documents.

Wheel of Pharaoh
In this lesson students identify terms used to describe characteristics of early societies and family structures. (This lesson can be modified for 8th grade.)

The Hellenistic Age and the Legacy of Alexander
The purpose of this lesson is to teach students the vocabulary, geography and historical perspectives needed to analyze and discuss the characteristics of Hellenistic Greece and the spread of Greek culture to the far reaches of the empire with particular attention focused on the historical themes of Cooperation/Conflict, Innovation, and Cultural Diffusion.
