Std 7.1:  Tracing important aspects of the diffusion of Christianity, including its relationship to Judaism, missionary impulse, organizational development, transition form prosecution to acceptance in the Roman Empire, and church doctrine      

Lesson Plans:

Lesson 1: Peter & Paul and the Christian Revolution
Students will be able to identify modern religious, political and social movements, create parallels with the religious expansion of Christianity due to Peter and Paul, and, finally, research and evaluate the success of modern movements.

Lesson 2: The Way
In this lesson, students will identify the geographic perimeters of the Roman Empire and be able to identify major cities within the empire, trace the movement of Paul, and use primary sources.

Part of PBS's Frontline series, this site explores archeological clues to Jesus' life, paints a portrait of his world, examines of the gospels and first Christians, and discusses why Christianity succeeded. There are also maps, a timeline, an anthology of primary sources, a discussion forum, and a biblical quiz.

The Christian Catacombs of Rome
This site discusses the history, importance as historical evidence of the catacombs and life and martyrdom in the early Christian Church.
