Justinian Code
In this lesson students analyze a section of the Justinian Code and
collaborate to create a new set of laws for the class.
Byzantium
In this lesson students will produce a large-scale time line, called
“Byzantium—Constantinople—Istanbul,” to help them see what happened to
a single city over the course of about two millennia—from just after
700 B.C. to just before A. D. 1600.
The Glory of Byzantium
In this lesson, students will study Information about the history and
art of Byzantium, the second capital city of the Roman Empire. Click
on the teachers resource area for classroom activities and discussion
questions.
Constantinople, the Capital of the Byzantine Empire
In this web quest, students
will use information from The Travel Guide for
Istanbul and Turkey Web site to learn about the ancient city of
Constantinople. Students will browse "The Byzantine" topic to read
about the city's history and its Byzantine art and architecture.
