Lesson Plans:

Trekking to Timbuktu: Mansa Musa Takes a Trip
After completing this lesson, students will be able to: identify Mansa Musa and discuss his pilgrimage; and, discuss changes brought about in Mali as a result of his pilgrimage.

Road to Timbuktu
In this lesson students will examine the mysteries of the city of Timbuktu, and its surrounding geographic regions. Through mapping activities, time lining, vocabulary development, and hands on projects, students will gain an understanding of the culture and geography of Timbuktu, past and present.

The Achievements and Challenges of Mali
This unit is intended to focus on some of those aspects of Malian life and history that are of great significance to understanding the people of Mali today and their situation.
