Lesson Plans:

Let's Go Maya!
As a result of this activity, students will understand various significant features of early Mayan civilization.

Mesoamerican: Time and Cultural Passages
In this lesson, students will compare and contrast the civilizations of the Olmec, Teotihuacan-Toltec, Anasazi, Maya, Inca, and Aztec.

Pre-Columbian  Story Teller
This lesson is an interdisciplinary activity utilizing art to enhance understanding and motivate learning about Pre-Columbian culture.

Mexico Lessons
The following unit contains 3 mini-lessons about Mexico's past, including the Aztecs and a

The Achievements and Challenges of Guatemala

Collapse 1: Why Civilizations Fall
This lesson is the first of a two-part series about the social changes that caused the collapse of important ancient civilizations in Central America, Mesopotamia, the southwestern United States, and western Africa. In these lessons, students learn about factors that cause major social changes and about prerequisites for a society’s survival.

Collapse 2: Interpreting the Evidence

In this second part (see lesson above), students continue to explore the factors that contribute to the collapse of a society and learn how archaeological evidence is gathered and interpreted.

This site provides information about the Amerindian populations of the Caribbean is the focus of this site. It has both historical primary and secondary material as well as contemporary information.

Life and Death in Ancient Mexico
This site is made up of 25 pages with pictures and descriptions discussing Life and Death in Ancient Mexico and understanding human sacrifice. 

Maya Adventure
This site is an online adventure that uses science activities and information to teach about ancient and modern Mayan culture.

A brief overview describing different cultural components of the Maya people.
