Who Caused the Cold War?
The Great Debate: Who Caused the Cold War? An exclusive live debate U.S.President Truman, Soviet leader Stalin, and former British prime minister Churchill. All three have agreed to be interviewed live and give their views on the "current" political situation. What questions would you ask Truman, Stalin and Churchill if you were presenting the debate? Three case studies will help you to develop your own views.

The Role of NATO.
Students will understand the political atmosphere of post-World War II Europe and the U.S. foreign policy strategy of containment; research critical events that occurred prior to the formation of NATO, such as the Marshall Plan, the Truman Doctrine, the Berlin airlift, and Churchill’s coinage of the term iron curtain; and distinguish on a map the countries that formed the Warsaw Pact and the NATO alliance in 1955.

The Korean War
Students will discover the first-person accounts of the Korean War and make the long-ago and almost forgotten war come alive.


The "Forgotten War,"
Nearly as many Americans lost their lives in Korea as did in Vietnam. Through research of oral histories and historical revision students can gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the sacrifices made by Americans in the Korean War

Police Action: The Korean War 1951-1953
Explain why the United States became involved in the war in Korea and assess the decision to send U.S. and U.N. forces across the 38th Parallel into North Korea.

The Berlin Airlift: The First Battle of the Cold War
An activity featuring vocabulary and study question along with information about  recommended videos.


Vietnam: A Web Quest
Decide if a Vietnam mural should be painted and what the content of the mural should be.

Communism and Containment

Cuba On My Mind:Exploring Cuban History, Politics, Society, and Culture

A History of Conflict: Learning About the Historic and Current Tensions Between Pakistan and India-
Students explore issues contributing to current tensions between Pakistan and India, drawing conclusions about how the conflict came about and where it may be heading.
