Yours, Mine and Ours: Determining Boundaries
Students assume the roles
of decision-makers in a boundary dispute. They are asked to consider
existing boundaries and other characteristics of an area to reach a
consensus on whether an area should be divided or remain a single
political entity.

Student to analyze the
“Afghanistan, Land in Crisis” map to determine how the physical
geography of this region affects the lifestyles of the individuals who
live there.
International Alliances
Students learn the history, mission, function, and
geographical range of six international alliances. It then asks them to
research opposing viewpoints
concerning these alliances and to consider the reasons why some people
want to reform or disband these organizations.
The Growth
of Islam
Students gather data that will help them understand and appreciate the
Islamic way of life.
Boundaries
and Borders
Help your students recognize the significance of borders by
creating temporary barriers within your classroom. Then study the
Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip to understand living on the wrong
side of a disputed border.
The Palestinian Conflict
Students will determine the common elements of disputes and the
challenges in resolving them; identify the key factors in the Middle
East crisis and analyze a past peace plan for resolving Arab/Israeli
crisis.
The Roots of Conflict
Students will research the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and write a
personal account from the point of view of an Israeli or a Palestinian
student
