The Places We Go!
Children will become more familiar with their school and develop a greater understanding of the many different activities that go on at school by tracking their movements within school over a day.

The Sign Walk
This lesson provides a way to begin talking about community rules and why we have them.

Rules and Responsibilities
In this unit, students learn ways to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a school rule.

Sharing
The student will be able to define sharing and give an example.

Creating an Inclusive Environment - Understanding Feelings
The students will learn about feelings and how to get along with others in group situations.

Learning About Honesty:  ...To help viewers develop an understanding of truth and honesty, program uses the Truth Fairy to present age-appropriate situations so that children can explore the issues involved and decide what is the right thing to do.  Short video from United Streaming.

Responsible Me:  Using appealing vignettes and a music video, a toy store owner host and his puppet assistant explain that being responsible isn't easy.  Short video from United Streaming.

Community Rules and Laws:  Explore rules in the home and at school and laws in the community to see how they benefit society. Learn how public officials create laws, and examine some of the consequences people face when they break them.  Short video from United Streaming.

Understanding Government:  Examine the structure and values of American government by exploring the rules in our daily lives and the reasons for them, as well as the rules and reasons behind our government.  Short video from United Streaming.

Early Warning, Timely Response - A Guide to Safe Schools: This guide presents a brief summary of the research on violence prevention and intervention and crisis response in schools. 

Suggestions for English Language Learners:

(D) Students give examples of personal responsibilities of family members (ie. brother takes out the garbage).

Students predict consequences of irresponsible family members (i.e What if brother didn't take out the trash?).

Students participate in developing rules for their classroom and reasons why they need particular rules.
(E/B, D, E) Students illustrate, in a mini book format, important people in the school such as the principal, librarian, etc.
