What is Red?

Participant Names:

 Focus of Unit:   Colors

Rationale:
This unit will help students recognize the color red and objects in their environment which are red. The same unit structure is easily adaptable to any color and can also be used for numbers.

Standards:

Curriculum:

  • Kindergarten Language Arts Benchmark IB
     

  • Demonstrate visual awareness/visual discrimination.
     

Technology: (Productivity; Communication; Research, Problem-solving & Decision-making Tools)

  • Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.


Learning Activities/Performance Tasks: (Include student preparation and performance)

            Activity 1:  Work through PowerPoint presentation.

Activity 2:  Identify a red objects in a picture books.

Activity 3:  Watch video – The Red Balloon.

Activity 4:  Students will use the computer to draw something red.  The students’ pictures will be used to make a classroom book of The Color Red.

  • Students will color objects that can be red.

  • Student’s page for class book will demonstrate use of color.

·    Secure interactive whiteboard for PowerPoint presentation.

·    Use appropriate classroom behavior during presentation.
