Learn how to make I Spy pictures and riddles with Jean Marzollo!

Sentence Quest:  Using Parts of Speech to Write Descriptive Sentences
This activity uses students’ speaking vocabularies to help them learn about complete sentences.  This lesson culminates with the students' use of descriptive words and phrases to create complex complete sentences, which are written on adding machine tape, illustrated, and shared with the class.

Healthy Readers, Healthy Writers
In these lessons, students develop vocabulary and writing skills and also learn basic facts about good health and how to avoid colds.

Weather Watchers
These lessons have a variety of weather-related activities across the curriculum. There are many creative ways to incorporate weather words into students' writing.

Using A Predictable Text To Teach High Frequency Words
This lesson uses a predictable text (Have You Seen My Cat? by Eric Carle) to help students learn high-frequency words. After reading the story, students form their own sentences using words from the text.


Learning Vocabulary Down By the Bay
The lesson uses a popular children's song that contains several high-frequency vocabulary words to assist students in recognizing, reading, writing, and using the words in several contexts.

3, 2, 1...Blast Off! Vocabulary Instruction Using a Virtual Trip to the Moon
This lesson is designed to help students learn new vocabulary by taking them on virtual adventures that replicate field trips. Students use an online Alphabet Organizer to complete a final writing activity, which they compare to the writing they did during the first session.
